Joint report states lab origin is unlikely.
On Monday, the World Health Organization (WHO) and China released a joint report examining the possible scenarios that led to the outbreak of COVID-19 last year. The report stated that it was “extremely unlikely” that the virus originated from a Chinese laboratory. The report stated that introduction from cold or food chain products was a possibility for the initial spread.
However, the U.S. government has expressed concerns about the methodology of the report. Secretary of State Antony Blinken stated that he has, “real concerns about the methodology and the process“ that went into that report, including the fact that the government in Beijing apparently helped to write it.
